Cardinal Gulbinowicz dies at 97, 10 days after restrictions were imposed

Polish Cardinal Henryk Gulbinowicz died on November 16 at the age of 97.

10 days earlier, the Vatican announced the decision to impose restrictions on the retired prelate, after investigating allegations of sexual abuse involving him.

Due to sanctions from the Holy See, Gulbinowicz will not be able to be buried in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Wroclaw, his former archdiocese.

His death leaves the College of Cardinals with 229 members, of whom 128 will be able to vote in an eventual conclave.
