The opening ceremony of the 2020 Plenary Assembly has been held on Monday 9th November 2020 in the Keta-Akatsi Diocese the Host of this year’s plenary with all the bishops in attendance.
The 5-day plenary assembly which is expected to end on Friday, November 13, 2020, took place at St. Catherine Girls Senior High School, Agbakope on the theme “The Word of God: Christian Formation for Transformation in Ghana “.
The Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana was also present to participate in his first plenary assemble here in Ghana.
The Host Bishop, Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, SVD while welcoming all and sundry said it’s been 18 years since the diocese last hosted the conference and that this assembly is the joy of the entire priest and lay faithful of the Keta Akatsi diocese for the conference has occurred on the 25th anniversary of the diocese as well as the 25th anniversary of the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Emeritus, Most Rev. Anthony Adanuty SVD, the first Bishop of the Keta Akatsi Diocese. The anniversary is to climax on Sunday 15th November 2020 at Christ the King Cathedral, Akatsi.
Mr. Samuel B.K Nugblegah chaired the noble gathering, in his acceptance speech he said it was an honour and favour for the opportunity. He also urged all to unite and to renew its faith with new perspectives for better directions.
The Bishop Conference is the central body of the Catholic Church in Ghana and after deliberating on matters of concern to the Church in Ghana a communiqué from the bishops is expected at the end of the plenary assembly to encourage positive activities and to make informed choices to the benefit of all.
