The man Jesus is so unique, mighty and powerful that everything about Him has equal power and efficacy as He Himself. We all know the power and authority in the Blood of Jesus, redeeming mankind; the stripes on His Body give us healing; even by touching His garment, a woman receives her healing. Today, Jesus Himself directs us to another aspect of Him that has equal potency.
Jesus tells us in the gospel reading of today that “Whatever you ask in my NAME, I will do it…” Meaning the surest way to get our prayers answered is when we pray in the NAME of Jesus. No wonder St. Paul will say there is no other name under which we can be saved.
The name of Jesus is the seal that authenticates our prayers; it is what gives our prayers the status of consideration. Because by the use of the name our prayers are written with Jesus’ blood and the voice becomes the voice of the blood – the blood that speaks more eloquently than that of Abel. When you go to post your letter, your stamp determines where it goes. The name of Jesus gives our prayers access to God’s presence.
This name was not given by man, but by God through the Archangel Gabriel. Among the names given directly by God, this NAME ‘Jesus’ was raised high above all other names. St Paul affirms this in Philippians “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
My dearly beloved, whatever circumstances, trials or tribulations we are facing are just names which are all under one greater name – Jesus Christ. So when you are feeling down and out and in need of direction, call upon the name of Jesus. When we pray in the NAME, heaven has to respond because the name of Jesus is like an identification card, or the key to the heavenly treasury. Let’s use the Name with all confidence and be assured of God’s prompt response according to His will.

KEEPING YOU ALL IN PRAYERS. GOD BLESS YOU. KEEP SAFE.
