Just as it is good for us to know our physical lineage, it is even more important for us to know our actual SOURCE so as to better appreciate who we are in Christ Jesus. In our first reading, St. Paul gives us a summary of the history of those he was addressing, the Israelites, and links it to Jesus as their Saviour. Thus their history culminates in Jesus Christ. In this history, St. Paul shows how God is faithfully consistent. In our own personal history, our life detached from Jesus becomes incomprehensible.
More importantly the history tells how special they are in the eyes of God and how God was orchestrating everything in their favour. If we also examine our lives closely, we will come to the same appreciation. Yes, there’s been times when everything seemed to be on the low, just as the Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years; even then, He’s with us just as He was with them.
God is present in all things especially in moments of challenges like this Corona virus pandemic. God has a stake in whatever is human. The joy of God is when man is doing well and growing, be it physical or spiritual. In fact, He created us to do well and prosper in all things so that we can worship Him in peace and joy. Thus He helps and fosters growth in all people.
Since we know God does everything for our favour, let’s cooperate with His plan for us by accepting His will. Pope Benedict XVI said “If you follow the will of God, you know that in spite of all the terrible things that happen to you, you will never lose a final refuge…” God loves you, my dearly beloved, as though you are the only person to be loved, and therefore He always intervenes in your life for your good. He will intervene in this challenging moment of the Corona virus pandemic too. Remain in Him.
