Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie CSSp, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra on 1ST October 2019 launched the extraordinary mission month at Christ the King Catholic Church Cantonments in Archdiocese of Accra on the theme: Baptized and sent.
This is in accordance with the Holy Father Pope Francis decree on October 2019 as an extraordinary month to celebrate the centenary of promulgation of the apostolic letter called Maximum Illud of the Supreme Pontiff Benedict XV on 30th November 1919.
The Proposed Program for the Extraordinary Mission Month (EMM),in the Archdiocese of Accra is as follows:
First week: LAUNCHING ON TUESDAY 1ST OCTOBER
Venue: Christ the King Parish Accra
Time: 6:30 pm -8:00pm
Speaker: Archbishop of Accra
Other Activities for the Month
6TH OCTOBER: launching of the extraordinary mission month in all parishes with a video message of the archbishop.
( b ) Praying of the mysteries of the Rosary during the month of October for the fruitfulness of the missions.
( c ) Prayer for the missions every Sunday after Prayer of the Faithful. (The prayer sent from the national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies)
( d ) Talk on mission once a week in all Churches, institutions and parishes.
( e ) Mission Outreach to the following schools in the archdiocese:
- St. Thomas Aquinas SHS
- Margaret Mary SHS
- Our Lady of Mercy SHS
- St. Mary SHS
The Catholic Teachers and Catholic heads of our Catholic Basic Schools and Junior High Schools to carry out sensitization about the EMM and Missions in general in their Schools.
( f ) Third Week
Visitation to Orphanages, Police Cells and prisons.
Various groups in the parishes and Churches are encouraged to go for mission outreaches to lapse Catholics, the sick and the aged.
( g ) Fourth Week.
Photo exhibition by various Churches and missionary societies on their activities at the grotto Masses to climax the
Rosary Month on the 26th October 2019.
20th October Mission Sunday: Special appeal for funds for the Universal Solidarity Fund.
27th Thanksgiving Mass of mission month in all Churches to end Extraordinary Mission month.
