Sr. Antoinette Asiedu, SSPS perpetual commitment to God
Friends and well-wishers recently joined The Missionary Sisters Servant of the Holy Spirit, SSpS Congregation at the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic church, New Aplaku in the Catholic Archdiocese Accra for The Perpetual Vows of Sr. Antoinette Asiedu, SSpS .
In the Catholic Church, the vows of members of religious orders and congregations are regulated by canon 654-658 of the code of canon law. The vows are regarded as individual free response to a call by God by offering oneself in perpetual profession.
The Rites of Perpetual Vows begun with the calling and presentation of the candidate by Rev. Sr. Lydia Tio SSpS.
Most Rev. John Alphonse Asiedu SVD, Bishop of Donkorkrom Vicariate was the homilist.
Sr. Antoinette Asiedu, SSpS during her examination resolved to bind herself to the mission congregation of the Servant of the Holy Spirit, SSpS Congregation placing her gifts, talents and whole being at its disposal and accepting its way of life and its missionary commitment to the church.
The litany of saints was sung to call The Holy angels and Saints to intercede for her.
Sr. Mercy Benson representing the congregational leader of the SSpS now presents the Sr. Antoinette Asiedu, SSpS with The Vow Formula of Profession and a burning candle signifying her pledge of fidelity through life.
The celebrating sister renewed her vow of Chastity Poverty and Obedience to GOD forever. She gracefully danced to offers her candle to Mary – the blessed mother of faithfulness and obedience to the will of the father.
Sr. Antoinette Asiedu, SSpS signed the Vow Document which is placed on the altar of sacrifice to signify that her offering is united with the offering of Christ
Most Rev. John Alphonse Asiedu SVD, Bishop of Donkorkrom Vicariate blessed the ring which serves as a symbol for her perpetual bond with Christ.
Sr. Mercy Benson SSpS placed the ring on her finger and she sang her covenant song as her response to God after which Bishop John Alphonse Asiedu SVD prays to her.
Sr. Antoinette Asiedu, SSpS was congratulated by John Bishop Alphonse Asiedu SVD, the provincial leadership team, SVD provincial, priests and religious, parents and other family members.
